Our History

The Yachats Public Library was established by City Ordinance 36 in November 1973. The building on 7th Street in Yachats officially opened in 1974 and was demolished to make way for a new library in March 2025. The new building is scheduled to re-open in late 2025 or early 2026.

About the

Library

Commission

The Yachats Library Commission consists of five volunteer members of the Yachats community. Its role is to provide support for the Library Administrator, offering ideas, feedback and other help where needed. It functions as a liaison between the library staff—including Administrator and volunteers—and the Yachats City Manager and the Yachats City Council.
